1) Every believer of Jesus Christ is born to be a champion. You are born to be a winner not a loser.
The bible says when we come to Christ we become a new creation not a renovated creation
2 Corinth 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
We were all born in Sin, Born to die, born to lose, born to fail, BUT when we get BORN AGAIN in JESUS everything in our life changes.
We are first forgiven, cleansed and washed of ALL our sins, then we are given eternal life, abundant life, born to win, born to conquer - ALL THINGS BECOME NEW
BUT yet we don't discover that in us there is a Spirit of a Champion
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
God gives us the Spirit to conquer , to win, to overcome, to pass, yet we live a life of Defeat, Failure, Frustration, Misery..
Why is it ?? Because we don't realize how to release the spirit of a champion that is in us. How to have a winning attitude in life
How many would like to know how to make this possible in your life
Now there are many attributes that makes someone a champion in any sport, event, academics, and even the Christian faith. But there is ONE TRAIT that distinguishes a champion from the rest .
And that is OUR ATTITUDE..
Attitude Is A state of Mind or a feeling good attitude / bad attitude positive / negative Our Attitude determines our Altitude ( how high we Go )
3) Attitude is a direct reflection of how we perceive the realities of Life
Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he ( KJV)
If you perceive something to be a problem, then it will be a problem.
People live their life on how they were brought up We are a product of our environment What we have been fed with in our lives is how we are now living our lives
But when we come to Christ, everything has to change The word of God becomes our Compass in life Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Our mind is no longer fed with the pattern of this world but with the living word of God
Our Attitude determines our Response to every situation in life Maintaining a winning attitude is CRUCIAL to becoming a champion for God.
A positive approach in life is vital to becoming a champion
Illustr:
A small retail shop was threatened to go out of business . A chain store had moved in and bought all the small shops in the block. But this small business man refused to sell his shop. The chain store told him that he would be sorry because they would build all around him and put him out of business. The day came when the small businessman found himself surrounded by the new departmental store on both sides of his shop. There was a big banner across his small shop reading Grand Opening The small businessman made a banner in front of his shop that said Main Entrance
When the army of Saul went to fight the Giant Goliath they were afraid and said He is too big for us to fight
When little David went to fight Goliath , he said He is too big for me to miss
Same problem but different reactions / responses .why ??
A spirit of a champion always sees VICTORY in the midst of every adversity or problem.
Philippians 4:4-9 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Paul did not write this passage of scripture from his mansion but rather Paul wrote this sitting in a prison cell unsure of his future But in Paul was a spirit of a champion which did not allow ANY circumstance of life to affect his attitude or faith in God
The Spirit of a champion remains unmoved in him
And here Paul gives us 4 principles which we all have to practice every day so that the spirit of a champion can come ALIVE in us
How can we have a winning attitude all the time..??
1) Praise the Lord always
V. 4- Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
We must Rejoice IN THE LORD not in Things, People, blessings, prosperity, job, business,
There is power in praise
When you Praise God , you lose sight of your situation in the magnitude of His Power and Glory.
Hab 3:17-19 17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.
Rejoicing in God is a choice we have to make if we want to see miracles.
Paul practiced the praise principle even when confined to a prison cell
Phil 1:12-14 12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.
What prison are you in this morning If you are going to learn to praise God I can assure you that every door will open up and you will be free
Do you know that praising God lifts up your Spirit of despair or discouragement
1 Thes 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Prov 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
When we don't rejoice , then we will complain When we don't praise , we will criticize or find fault
Phil 2:14-15 14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe
2) Pray to God always
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
How many times we are anxious about things in life ? How many time we worry about things in life ?
IN EVERYTHING, - We need to pray to God.
Pray will bring the Peace of God Because we have no peace of God that is why we worry
Peace of God comes when we Pray and commit our requests to God.
What is the first thing we do when faced with a difficult situation ??
Prayer must become to us like - AIR WE BREATHE TOTALLY DEPENDENT,
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
3) Think right thoughts
V. 8- Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things.
Whatever is TRUE, NOBLE , RIGHT , PURE, LOVELY, ADMIRABLE
We must focus on the Right thoughts to have a winning attitude all the time
We are so caught up with the negative and wrong stuff of life that we fail to see the Positive and good side of life.Dwelling too much on the negative will make us SICK - Spiritually, emotionally and even physically
Many of our physical sicknesses are due to dwelling our minds on wrong things and negative things
Psalms 1:1-3 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Inside us is the Spirit man and the Flesh man. What we fed our minds with will determine who wins in us. Feed our minds with the Word of God the Spirit man wins, Feed our minds with the thoughts of the world the flesh wins.
4) Live the word of God
Be a doer of the Word of God, and not just a hearer
V. 9- Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
It is not enough to hear , read or just know the Word of God. We must put it into practice if we want to see the blessing of the Word of God in our life
The word of God must become your lifestyle and not the world The word of God must become your daily practice
Right living is putting into practice everything you learn or receive from the word of God Right living is standing on the promises of God even when nothing seems to be happening Right living is not Giving up even when life puts you down Right living is Fighting the good fight of Faith when trials and testing come your way
Right living is focusing on Eternity and not Earthly People not possessions, service not self, The Spirit not the Flesh, Giving not getting
Today , are you living a life of a champion or are you living a defeated life, A life of failure, A life of worry and stress, A life of turmoil and fights,
Some are weary in their spiritual life
Tired of their problems, Tired of their situation, Tired of their lack, Tired of their job / work, Tired in their spiritual life, Relationship,
The strength of some people is failing The Hearts of some people are fainting The Faith of some people is falling The Hopes of some people are fading
Today , God will INFUSE you with NEW strength & Power. Allow the spirit of a Champion in you to Rise Up
